Claiborne Williams affected the lives of thousands and his music was
the universal language. At 18 he became the leader of Donaldsonville's
famous St. Joseph Brass Band and in 1927 he brought King Zulu from New
Orleans to the True Friends Hall. Claiborne used his God-given talent
to compose, arrange & teach music to its entirety.

1878, July 11: Abbeville La.
Thursday July 11th - The Catholics having determined to celebrate the
feast of Corpus Christi on this day. The day was quite hot & a rain
fell as the procession left the church. The St. Joseph Brass Band made
their debut to-day. They played "Yankee Doodle," "Hail Columbia," and
"Partant pour la Syrie." I reported the affair for the Cotton Boll.
