As a brass band musician he played with:
Henry "Kid" Rena Brass Band
He was the nephew of great bass drummer
Clay Jiles. First job as with
Chris Kelly. In 1923 he began a long
run with Lawrence Toca, and worked
during the depression with Kid
Howard's Band and with Isaiah
Morgan's Young Morgan Band. In the early 40's he worked with
Papa Celestin and
Kid Clayton.
