As a brass band musician he played with: Excelsior, Kid Ory's, Reliance, Tuxedo Brass Band

Must of his prime years he spent playing in traveling shows, and was out of town much of the time. In 1921 he played with Luis Russell at Anderson's Restaurant and sometimes played dance jobs with jazzmen.16
The 1921 band was Albert Nicholas and his Orchestra, with Paul Barbarin, Willie Santiago, Luis Russel and Albert Nicholasi1

He also played jobs for the Streckfus Line on the Sidney, where he played for example with Sidney Desvigne.i2
