As a brass band musician he played with: Johnny Fischer's Brass Band.

He's most known as a drummer, but also played the cornet.

He began his career in 1919 with Emmett Hardy and through 20's with , Jules Bauduc, Happy Schilling and  with Abbie Brunies at the Halfway House. He first recorded in 1927 with Johnny Hyman's Bayou Stompers.16
