As a brass band musician he played with: Henry Allen, Imperial, Onward, Tuxedo Brass Band

He was the younger brother of Buddy Johnson, also trombone player. In 1906 he worked with the Imperial Orchestra and later in 1910 with the Superior Orchestra. After WW I to 1925 he worked with the Sam Morgan band.16 He didn't record with Sam Morgan.
