As a brass band musician he played with:
Holmes Brass Band
He started with the Holmes Brass Band of Lutcher in 1910.
After working jobs in the district he joined fate Marable in 1918 for three
years on the S.S. Capitol. Than joined King Oliver in 1921 in Chicago. In the
mid 20's he was leader on the S.S. Pelican and worked shortly with Bebé
Ridgley's Tuxedo Orchestra. In 1929 he cut four recorded sides under the name
The Jones-Collins Astoria Hot Eight (Lee Collins).16
