As a brass band musician he played with: Eureka, Imperial, Onward Brass Band

He learned trombone from his grandfather, Jim Humphrey. He spent a lot of time on the road, but appeared irregularly in town playing with his brothers, Buddy Petit, Chris Kelly and Louis Dumaine.16
