As a brass band musician he played with: Eagle, Olympia Brass Band

First job at Spanish Fort with Johnny Brown's band, 1901. He was a pupil of Adolphe Alexander sr.
He organized his first Olympia Orchestra, 1906 with Alphonse Picou on clarinet. Sometimes he played with the Eagle Brass Band about 1910. Played at Pete Lala's, Groshell's Dance Hall in the district, 1910-12. Toured with the Original Creole Orchestra on Orpheum circuit, 1913-18.Later on he played in Chicago with Doc Cooke's Dreamland Orchestra, Jimmie Noone, Lil's Hot Shots etc.
