As a brass band musician he played with:
Allen,
Melrose,
Olympia,
Onward Brass Band
He began about 1904 as a substitute with the Onward Brass
Band. To about 1910 was with Henry Allen's Brass band, the Original Superior
Orchestra, the Eagle Band and the Magnolia Band. Usually he was filling in for
famed hornmen Manuel Perez and Bunk Johnson. After 1910 he worked with Richard
M. Jones Four Hot Hounds at Abadie's and than as leader at Pete Lala's. He left
for Chicago in 1918.16
