As a brass band musician he played with:
Kid Ory's, Tuxedo Brass Band
Brother of Warren "Baby" Dodds.
Pupil of Lorenzo Tio jr. began his career about 1910 with
Frank Duson's Eagle band.He worked with Kid Ory and left New Orleans in 1918
with Billy Mack vaudeville troupe. Joined King Oliver in Chicago, led his own
band, 1924-1930. He was a member of Louis Armstrong's Hot Five recording group.16
