As a brass band musician he played with:
Henry Allen Brass Band
He made his jazz debut in New Orleans in 1913, coming from
hometown with friend, Edward "Kid" Ory. He became leader
same year at 101 Ranch and studied with Lorenzo Tio jr. He left New Orleans for
Chicago in 1917, led band at Deluxe Café, 1917-19. After brief tour in
vaudeville returned to Louisiana. He retired from music in 1944.16
