Brother of cornetist Freddie Keppard.

As a brass band musician he played with: Camelia, E. Gibson, Tuxedo Brass Band

He began playing professional about 1906, mainly as a guitarist. He played in the Magnolia Orchestra with the Depass boys, Joe Oliver and Frank Goudie. He also worked with his brother Freddie's Olympia Orchestra. In the 60's he still was playing parades with the E. Gibson Brass Band.
