Dave "Fat Man" Williams was born on Tourou Street,below the French Quarter.
At the age of five,his mother,an organist at the Free Will Baptist Church,taught him to play the piano.
Reaching his teens,he was playing the house parties and fish fries.
After his stint in the Army during World War II ,Dave studied music under the G.I. Bill,and then began playing nearly all the famous New Orleans Clubs.
Despite all this activity,he had to wait up until 1974 to get a record released.
"I Ate Up The Apple Tree" on the New Orleans label made some noise locally.
Dave was the resident pianist at the Maison Bourbon...
